Whenever a Disaster Strikes, NDRF Comes to Mind First: CM Chandrababu
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu lauded the efforts of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), stating that it is the first organization that comes to mind during any disaster. He made these remarks while participating in the 20th Foundation Day celebrations of the NDRF held at Kondapavuluru, a village in the erstwhile Krishna district. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present at the event.
During the program, CM Chandrababu and Amit Shah inaugurated the buildings of the NDRF 10th Battalion and the South Campus of the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM). Speaking on the occasion, Chandrababu praised the NDRF for its remarkable service during emergencies like floods, wildfires, earthquakes, and other natural calamities, highlighting its role in mitigating the impact of such disasters.
“The NDRF has saved the lives of millions across the country. Beyond handling domestic disasters, the force extended its services during international crises, such as the 2011 Japan tsunami, the 2015 Nepal earthquake, and the 2023 Turkey earthquake. I personally witnessed their heroic efforts during the Hudhud cyclone in 2014 in North Andhra Pradesh and the recent Budameru floods,” said the Chief Minister.
He further recalled the commitment to establishing the NDRF campus in Andhra Pradesh as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. The foundation stone for the campus was laid by then Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in 2014, while the NIDM campus foundation was laid by Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu in 2018.
“We allocated 50 acres of land for the NDRF 10th Battalion and 10 acres for the NIDM campus. Today, it is a proud moment to see these facilities being inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah,” Chandrababu stated.
The Chief Minister concluded by commending the NDRF’s courage and selfless dedication, emphasizing its invaluable contributions to disaster management both in India and abroad.
