National Herald case: Ex-Minister Geetha Reddy appears before ED

New Delhi, October 6: Former minister and senior Congress leader J. Geetha Reddy appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here on Thursday in National Herald case. The ED served notices to former ministers Geetha Reddy, Mohammed Ali Shabbir and P. Sudarshan Reddy; former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav and Congress leader Gali Anil Kumar seeking clarification regarding payments made to the Young Indian Private Limited.

On Monday (October 3), Shabbir Ali appeared before the ED and officials questioned him for six hours over donations made to Young Indian. Already ED grilled Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over money laundering charges. The Congress functionaries staged protests in various states alleging misuse of central probe agencies.

But the Telangana Congress leaders coming under the ED radar has created sensation in Telugu states. The Congress alleged that the BJP-led NDA government is using the ED for political vendetta. Countering, the BJP demanded the Congress leaders to prove their innocence.
