Fraud in Tirupati Co-operative Town Bank elections, Chandrababu writes to Collector

Tirupati, July 20:  TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to District Collector alleging irregularities in conduct of elections to 12 director posts of the Tirupati Co-operative Town Bank. He brought to his notice that the police registered false cases under the SC/ST Atrocities Act against non-YSRCP candidates contesting in elections.

The TDP leaders accused YSRCP MLAs Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy of interfering in election process and allowing non-members of the bank to cast vote in polls with duplicate identity cards. “At least 50,000 bogus cards were printed to ensure directors supported by the YSRCP are won,” they said.

Presiding officer will allow members of the bank to exercise their franchise till 2 pm and counting of votes will start from 3 pm today. In the letter, the TDP chief demanded that the Collector should cancel elections and reconduct polls once again in a free and fair manner.
