Rakesh Jhunjhunwala's Akasa Air gets green signal from DGCA for take-off
Mumbai: Akasha Air, owned by prominent investor and stockmarket guru Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, has received a green signal from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Licensed Akasha Air will start commercial operations soon.
With this, Akasha Air became the eighth domestic airline. Jet Airways also became the second passenger airline to get a flying licence after its new management got permission to resume services. The company tweeted this on Thursday. “We are happy to announce that we have achieved an important milestone with the Air Operator's Certificate (AOC). It tweeted that flight operations are about to start.”
It may be recalled that Jhunjhunwala entered the domestic aviation sector under the name 'Akasha Air'. Akasha Air has purchased 18 'Boeing 737 Max aircraft from the American company Boeing. The service will be provided by a total of 72 'Boeing 737 Max aircraft.
