Scion of Kakatiya dynasty Kamalchandra Bhanjdev steps in Warangal after 700 years
Warangal: The schemes and constructions undertaken by the Kakatiya kings for the betterment of the people, who ruled the kingdom from Orugallu, are laudable. In this backdrop, the 22nd Maharaja Kamalchandra Banjdev of the Kakatiya dynasty visited the area ruled by his ancestors after 700 years. He will participate in the 'Kakatiya Vaibhava Saptaham' programme being organised by the state government from Thursday.
As part of this, Banjdev arrived in Warangal on Thursday and paid a visit to Goddess Bhadrakali temple. Bhanjdev said that he is happy to come to his family's place. “Our goal is to serve the people. Kamalchandra Bhanjdev specialled thanked the leaders, who had invited him. On his arrival in Warangal, he spoke to the media and explained his views about the rule of his ancestors and the glory of Orugallu.
“Seeing the opportunity to visit Orugallu as a descendant of the Kakatiya clan seems to have returned to my mother's lap. The mind was filled with indescribable joy. An inseparable soul connection with the people of Warangal will remain forever. I have always been aware of Warangal and the glory of Kakatiyas. I went to London for higher education and completed Masters in International Science and Masters in Political Science and came back to India in 2009. Now I am coming back to Orugallu in search of my roots,” he shared his joy.
“In the history of the monarchy, only the Kakatiyas practised public administration. Our forefathers built many multi-purpose projects, structures and historical buildings for the people. That's why people look at our descendants as Gods rather than kings. I am proud to be the king of Kakatiyas. The people of Warangal have always been my people. I am ready to do anything for them. I will do many programmes under the aegis of ‘Torch’ an NGO in Telangana. Kakatiya culture needs to be preserved and passed on to future generations. It contains information about the past glory of Kakatiyas,” he told about his plans.
“It was the Kakatiya kings, who started the kingdom administration from Bastar. For 22 generations, our descendants ruled the kingdom with Kakatiya roots. There are evidences in many inscriptions that we were Kakatiya kings. In the book Memorandum of the Indian States released by the then British government, it is also mentioned that we are Kakatiya kings. Many of the inscriptions in Bastar also mentioned our lineage. Even today our empire is spread over Bastar and I am staying in the fort in Jagdalpur,” he informed about their roots.
“I am proficient in all types of weapons. I play golf, archery and polo. Likes firing. I am vegetarian and non-alcoholic. I still meet my childhood friends. There are common people, including IAS, IPS and politicians, too,” he said.
The Telangana government invited me as the chief guest for the 'Kakatiya Vaibhava Saptaham' programme.
