RGV clarifies after uproar over his tweet on Draupadi Murmu

Hyderabad, June 23: After the BJP lodged a complaint against Tollywood director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) at Abids police station here on Friday over his tweet on NDA presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu, RGV posted another tweet short while ago.

Varma said, “This was said just in an earnest irony and not intended in any other way …Draupadi in Mahabharata is my favourite character but since the name is such a rarity I just remembered the associated characters and hence my expression. Not at all intended to hurt sentiments of anyone.”

However, BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao indirectly told RGV not to cross limits to gain cheap publicity with a tweet and put an end to controversy. Earlier, the Telangana BJP leaders demanded that a case under SC/ST Atrocities Act should be registered against RGV. Meanwhile, ‘Konda’ movie, based on the life of Telangana Congress couple Konda Murali and Surekha, directed by Varma released on Thursday.
