Nellore: All set for Atmakur by-election tomorrow

Nellore, June 22: Officials made all arrangements for conducting polling to Atmakur by-election on Thursday. The voting will take place from 7 am to 6 pm. APSP cops and central forces are providing security to 279 polling stations in which 123 are sensitive.
 
Returning Officer and Joint Collector M N Harendhira Prasad said that they have taken measures for peaceful conduct of by-election. “Election material was handed over to polling staff. 142 micro-observers and 38 sector officers were appointed,” he said.
 
The YSRCP fielded Mekapati Vikram Reddy as its candidate and main Opposition TDP is staying away from by-election following the tradition of not fielding its candidate if the MLA dies suddenly. By-election 
 
Bharat Kumar Yadav is the BJP-Jana Sena alliance nominee. The YSRCP wants to ensure that Vikram Reddy should win with a huge margin of 1 lakh votes. Ministers and ruling party MLAs campaigned for Vikram.
