Harish Rao makes surprise visit to Kondapur Area Hospital, suspends doctor
Hyderabad, May 23: Health Minister Harish Rao made a surprise visit to Area Hospital in Kondapur on Monday. During his interaction with patients and attendants, a person complained to minister that a doctor by name Murthy has demanded him to pay Rs 500 as bribe for issuing medical certificate required for applying driving licence.
To confirm as to whether allegation is true or not, Harish questioned security guard, who was present when the doctor asked complainant to pay him bribe. The minister asked cops to video record the version of security guard and complainant as evidence. Immediately, he placed Murthy under suspension and warned to take serious action if any doctor demands bribe from patients.
Harish visited various wards in the hospital and enquired with patients regarding the services provided by doctors and nurses. He directed the medical superintendent to ensure scanning services for pregnant women in gynaecology ward. Also, he assured to install an ultrasound scanning equipment in the hospital.
