Engg student Ramya death: Guntur special court awards death sentence to Sashikrishna

Guntur, April 29: Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge of Guntur special court on Friday awarded death sentence to accused Sashikrishna. On August 15, 2021, Sashikrishna had stabbed engineering student Nallapu Ramya to death in broad daylight here. Within a few hours, the police arrested the accused. The murder had created sensation throughout the state.
 
Trial in the special court began in December 2021 and hearings in the case concluded on April 26, 2022. While pronouncing the verdict, the judge said that the CCTV footages have confirmed that Sashikrishna had murdered Ramya. He termed the rarest of the rare case and said that the accused had attempted to escape from police custody. “Even, he did not show any sign of remorse for committing the crime,” the judge stated and said that he should be hanged till he dies. Ramya’s parents expressed happiness over the judgement and thanked police and court for rendering justice to them.
