1 lakh died due to air pollution in 8 Indian cities including Hyd: US & UK scientists

An international study jointly compiled by scientists of University of Birmingham, University College London and Harvard University has revealed that one lakh people died due to air pollution from 2005 to 2018 in eight Indian cities. They are Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Surat, Pune, and Ahmedabad. 14 per cent Nitrogen Dioxide and 8 per cent harmful particles in the air are showing adverse effect on the health.
 
In the report, scientists have mentioned that level of Ammonia has increased to 12 per cent. In Bangladesh capital Dhaka alone, 25,000 people have died, the report said. Science Advances, an international journal, had published the findings of the study last week. 
 
Scientists have collected the data using observation instruments on board of the NASA and European Space Agency satellites. They have expressed concern over increase in air pollution every year. “Air will deteriorate further across the globe in the coming decades,” they stated.
