AP HC on Amravati: Chandrababu Naidu terms verdict as farmers' victory

Amaravati: In a morale booster to the TDP, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has given a sensational verdict on the capital city Amravati. Speaking at an awareness seminar organised by the party for sarpanches in Mangalagiri, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu said that people belonging to all walks of society are staying in Amravati. He reminded that thousands of acres were given to the government as part of land pooling like nowhere else in the world.

"Land is inherited from ancestors and people are very sentimental about them. But despite that, 33,000 acres were given to the government without any controversy. The Prime Minister came to lay the foundation stone of the capital city Amaravati. Ministers from countries like Singapore and Japan, too, graced the occasion. The Chief Ministers and Governors came from neighbouring states arrived for the foundation laying. We performed the bhumi puja with the blessings of all, but after YSRCP came to power, it shattered the dreams of people by announcing three capitals," he recalled.

The state witnessed floods in the last two years. Has an acre been flooded anywhere in Amravati? But there have been numerous comments that the capital region is flood-prone land, it's a cemetery and a desert, it is unfortunate that the area adjacent to Pattissima where the River Krishna flows was called with names, Naidu bemoaned. It was stated that the land here is not suitable for laying foundations, but Madras IIT experts revealed that Amravati land is harder than Chennai and Hyderabad. A lot of controversies were created around the capital city region, he alleged.

The CRDA law was brought to provide rights to farmers, who had given lands. The farmers have been agitating for 807 days demanding that the government announce Amaravati as the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh. The peasants were beaten up and women were grabbed and dragged, but ultimately they won against all odds.

"The victory achieved by the farmers of Amravati today is for all the five crore people of the state. I heartily congratulate the farmers of Amravati and the people of the state for this inspiring achievement," he said,
