Amaravati, Sep 1 : YSR Congress Party President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday called upon party leaders and cadre to treat the forthcoming local body elections as a major political challenge and prepare to contest every seat without allowing scope for uncontested victories by the rivals.
During his visit to Pulivendula in YSR Kadapa district, Jagan Mohan Reddy held a Praja Darbar at the Bhakarapuram camp office, where a large number of party leaders, workers, supporters, and members of the public met him and submitted grievances.
According to a party release, he patiently heard their concerns and interacted with party leaders on local political conditions, organisational issues, and the strategy for the coming elections.
Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the cadre to strengthen the party from the village level, remain continuously connected with the people and stand by them in resolving their problems. He said candidates should be identified and preparations made in advance so that YSRCP contests every local body seat.
He cautioned that any attempt to misuse official power or the police to threaten opposition candidates and workers must be faced firmly and collectively. He assured the cadre that the party would stand by them in every way.
Jagan Mohan Reddy asked leaders to take to every household the welfare and development achieved under the YSRCP government, including village secretariats, the volunteer system, Nadu-Nedu, expansion of Aarogyasri, education reforms and support extended to farmers, women, students and the poor.
He also directed the party to expose the coalition government’s failure to honour its election promises and highlight the hardships faced by the people.
"Stay among the people, fight for their issues and remind them of the good done during YSRCP rule. If we do this, victory in the local body elections will not be difficult,” he told the party cadre.
