Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday announced a series of significant welfare measures for state government employees, describing them as an integral part of the government and assuring full support for their long-pending demands.
The Chief Minister held a meeting with representatives of various employee unions and took several key decisions. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, these measures will place an additional annual financial burden of ₹2,880 crore on the state government.
Key decisions announced:
12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC): The Chief Minister approved the constitution of the long-awaited 12th Pay Revision Commission.
Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears: Two pending DA instalments — corresponding to July 1, 2024 and January 1, 2025 — will be paid from October 1, 2026.
Surrender leave: The amount related to 2022 surrender leave will be credited to employees’ accounts by the next Sankranti festival.
Additional leave for police: One additional surrender leave for police personnel will be paid during this Dasara festival.
Additional quantum of pension: From January 2027, pensioners aged above 70 years will receive an additional 10% pension, while those above 75 years will get an extra 15%.
Employees Health Scheme (EHS): The scheme will be further strengthened. From next month, the government will directly transfer monthly bill payments to the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust.
Employee union leaders raised their concerns during the meeting, and the Chief Minister responded positively. He reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare of its employees. The decisions were officially announced by the Chief Minister’s Office through social media.
The announcements have been widely welcomed by government employees across the state.
