Nara Lokesh announces massive Rs 90,000 crore AM Green project for Kakinada
Kakinada: In a significant development for the state’s industrial landscape, Andhra Pradesh IT and Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh has announced a massive investment of $10 billion (approximately ₹90,000 crore) by AM Green. The company is set to establish a state-of-the-art green ammonia export terminal in Kakinada, marking a major milestone in India’s renewable energy sector.
Sharing details of the prestigious project on social media, Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted that the initiative will generate over 8,000 high-quality jobs. The proposed terminal will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of green ammonia. The output from this facility is slated for export to major international markets, including Germany, Singapore, and Japan.
To support this large-scale production, the project will rely on a robust energy infrastructure comprising approximately 7.5 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy and 1 GW of pumped hydro storage capacity.
Minister Nara Lokesh emphasised the historic nature of the venture, noting that this is the first time in India’s history that green energy will be exported in the form of ammonia. He expressed confidence that this substantial investment will not only strengthen the state’s economy but also position Andhra Pradesh as a frontrunner in the global green energy value chain.
