Sajjanar Calls Drunk Drivers Terrorists, Announces Zero-Tolerance Policy in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer and Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar made a strong statement comparing those who drive vehicles under the influence of alcohol to terrorists. He said that their actions on the roads are no less dangerous than acts of terrorism.
Referring to the recent Kurnool bus accident that claimed 20 lives, V. C. Sajjanar stated that it was not merely an accident but a tragic massacre caused by the negligence of a drunken biker. In a social media post, he explained that the biker, identified as B. Shiva Shankar, lost control of his motorcycle while intoxicated, leading to the fatal incident.
According to V. C. Sajjanar, CCTV footage showed the biker refueling his motorcycle at a petrol station at 2:24 a.m., and the devastating accident occurred just fifteen minutes later at 2:39 a.m. Expressing deep anguish, he said that the biker’s irresponsibility destroyed many families within moments.
“Those who drive vehicles after consuming alcohol are terrorists in every sense. I firmly stand by this statement. They destroy lives, families, and futures. Such actions will never be tolerated,” said V. C. Sajjanar.
Announcing a new enforcement policy, V. C. Sajjanar declared that Hyderabad Police would implement a zero-tolerance approach towards drunk driving henceforth. He warned that every individual caught driving under the influence will face the full legal consequences. Emphasizing that there will be no leniency or exemptions for those endangering innocent lives, he urged society to stop viewing drunk driving as a mere mistake. He asserted that it is a life-destroying crime deserving strict punishment.
