Punjab All Out for 101 as RCB Bowlers Dominate Qualifier 1
In a dramatic Qualifier 1 clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, held at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mohali, Punjab Kings suffered a devastating batting collapse. Choosing to field after winning the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Rajat Patidar saw his bowlers decimate Punjab’s lineup, bundling them out for just 101 runs in 14.1 overs.
Only Marcus Stoinis offered some resistance for Punjab Kings, scoring 26 runs off 17 balls with two boundaries and two sixes. Apart from him, only Prabhsimran Singh (18 off 10; 2 fours, 1 six) and Azmatullah Omarzai (18 off 12; 1 four, 1 six) managed to reach double figures. Key batters including captain Shreyas Iyer (2), Josh Inglis (4), and Nehal Wadhera (8) failed to make an impact.
RCB’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Josh Hazlewood, who claimed 3 wickets for 21 runs in 3.1 overs. Suyash Sharma also grabbed 3 wickets, conceding just 17 runs in his 3 overs. Yash Dayal contributed with 2 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Romario Shepherd chipped in with a wicket each. Punjab also conceded 11 runs as extras.
Punjab Kings lost their first wicket, opener Priyansh Arya, for just 9 runs. The collapse continued steadily, with the team losing 7 wickets for just 60 runs, placing them in dire straits. Although Omarzai tried to salvage the innings towards the end, his efforts fell short of taking the team to a respectable total. As a result, Punjab Kings now face the daunting task of delivering a remarkable bowling performance to stay in contention for a place in the finals.
