Andhra Pradesh on Alert as COVID-19 Cases Rise Again
Signs of a resurgence of COVID-19 are emerging in Andhra Pradesh, raising public concern. In a recent development, a senior citizen from Kadapa district has tested positive for the virus, prompting the state health department to issue crucial public guidelines.
The patient, a 75-year-old woman from Chagalamarri in Nandyal district, was admitted to the Government RIMS Hospital in Kadapa after suffering from a high fever. Medical tests confirmed that she had contracted COVID-19. According to attending doctors, she has been transferred to a dedicated isolation ward within the hospital and is currently receiving treatment. Her condition is being closely monitored by medical staff.
In light of increasing reports suggesting a gradual rise in COVID-19 cases across the state, the Andhra Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Department has heightened its alertness. As a preventive measure, the department has released updated guidelines aimed at curbing the spread of the virus. Citizens have been advised to defer gatherings such as prayer meetings, social events, celebrations, parties, and other group activities wherever possible.
The department has also mandated the strict observance of COVID-19 protocols in crowded areas such as railway stations, bus stands, and airports. In particular, wearing masks in densely populated locations is compulsory.
People exhibiting symptoms such as fever, cold, cough, severe fatigue, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, headache, body aches, nasal congestion or discharge, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea are urged to visit the nearest health center immediately for testing.
Additionally, directives have been issued to ensure that all government hospitals maintain 24-hour laboratory facilities. Health officials have been instructed to stock adequate supplies of testing kits, masks, PPE kits, and triple-layer masks. The department has appealed to the public to cooperate fully in preventing the spread of the virus by maintaining personal hygiene and strictly following government-issued advisories.
