Farmers Suffered Losses Due to Government Negligence: Y. S. Jagan
Unseasonal rains in Andhra Pradesh have caused severe damage to farmers, who are expressing deep anguish over the destruction of their standing crops. Due to heavy rainfall over the past two days, the harvested produce has been inundated, and fruit orchards have also suffered extensive losses.
Former Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy responded to the situation, alleging that the losses incurred by farmers were a result of the government's negligence. He criticized the state administration, stating, “Despite having advance information about the rains, the government failed to take appropriate measures and abandoned the farmers to their fate.”
Y. S. Jagan also alleged that the government failed in procuring the harvested paddy. He expressed concern that, although the Kharif season had already yielded a below-average crop due to unfavorable weather, farmers did not receive remunerative prices, leading to financial strain. Now, with their harvested produce damaged by the rains, their losses have deepened.
Y. S. Jagan held a teleconference from Tadepalli with YSRCP leaders on this issue. He instructed party leaders to console the affected farmers and announced that the party would exert pressure on the state government to secure compensation for them.
