What if war breaks out and power supply is cut?... Pakistan practices in advance
Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, authorities have heightened vigilance in the Ferozepur Cantonment area of Punjab. In light of the looming threat of war, a half-hour blackout drill is scheduled to be conducted to assess preparedness for emergency situations. The electricity supply in the cantonment area will be completely suspended from 9:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

To ensure the success of this blackout drill, the Chief Executive Officer of Ferozepur Cantonment has appealed for cooperation from the District Deputy Commissioner and the local Station Headquarters. He has also requested officials from the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to suspend power supply during the designated timeframe.

“The primary objective of this drill is to verify the readiness to implement blackout procedures effectively under wartime conditions,” a Cantonment Board official stated in a letter. “We request you to make appropriate security arrangements during this full power cut,” the official added.

Announcements regarding tonight’s blackout were made to civilians in the vicinity of the cantonment area using battery-powered rickshaws equipped with loudspeakers. Citizens were advised to remain alert during the power cut period.

Tensions between the two nations escalated significantly after an incident last month in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where terrorists crossing from the other side of the border killed 26 tourists. In response, India took several measures, including suspending visas for Pakistani nationals and temporarily halting the Indus Waters Treaty. Over recent days, Pakistani troops have repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC), prompting effective retaliation by Indian forces.

Against this backdrop, Indian security forces and local authorities are fully preparing to face any emergency scenarios, with heightened security in border regions. The blackout drill in Ferozepur is being carried out as part of these preparedness measures.
