Harish Kumar Gupta to Be Appointed as Full-Time DGP of Andhra Pradesh

Preparations are underway to appoint Harish Kumar Gupta as the full-time Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh. He is currently serving as the in-charge DGP.

A panel meeting regarding the selection of the DGP was held in New Delhi on Wednesday. The panel comprised representatives from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the Union Home Secretary, and the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, K. Vijayanand. During the meeting, the panel shortlisted three names from the list submitted by the state government, which included officers holding the DGP rank. The shortlisted candidates are Anjani Kumar, Harish Kumar Gupta, and M. Pratap Reddy.

The state government has the authority to appoint one among these three as the new full-time DGP.

Earlier this year, the state government appointed Harish Kumar Gupta as the in-charge DGP. Due to his satisfactory performance in that role, the government has decided to appoint him as the full-time DGP. An official announcement regarding this decision is expected soon.

Upon the issuance of the appointment orders, Harish Kumar Gupta will serve a two-year term as DGP, regardless of his retirement age.
