Chandrababu Naidu Announces Major Capital Revival with Support from Narendra Modi

The foundation ceremony for the revival of Andhra Pradesh's capital city, Amaravati, has been scheduled. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Amaravati on May 2 and lay the foundation stone for development works worth ₹49,040 crore. He called upon the cadres of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to attend the event in large numbers.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu conducted a teleconference with TDP Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, senior leaders, and grassroots-level party workers to mobilize participation.

He further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would also inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for additional projects related to DRDO, DPIIT, NHAI, and Railways, with a cumulative value of ₹57,962 crore. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that the people had delivered a decisive mandate in favor of the alliance in line with the promise to rebuild a state that was subjected to destruction under the previous administration. He highlighted that within just ten months, the state had initiated development and welfare programs through coordinated efforts between the central and state governments.

The Chief Minister stated that the Polavaram Project would be completed by 2027. He also highlighted significant developments such as the establishment of TCS in Visakhapatnam, the rapid progress of the Bhogapuram International Airport, and a ₹5,000 crore investment by LG Corporation in Sri City as key contributions to the state’s development. Chandrababu Naidu reaffirmed that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is committed to inclusive regional development and is moving forward with the Swarna Andhra Vision 2047.

He criticized the previous government, alleging that it had rendered Amaravati ineffective under the guise of a three-capital proposal and wasted the sacrifices made by farmers. Chandrababu Naidu pledged that the capital city would be developed with support from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and in line with public aspirations. He asserted that every citizen of Andhra Pradesh should be able to proudly say “Our Amaravati,” just as people in other states speak with pride about their capitals. He added that revenue generated from the capital would be directed toward implementing additional welfare programs.

Reaffirming his support for party workers, the Chief Minister said, “Party workers are the backbone of our party, and we will recognize them in every possible way.” He noted that the process of appointing individuals to nominated positions is ongoing. He also announced the launch of two schemes—Annadata and Thalliki Vandhanam—in the upcoming month.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the incident at Simhachalam, where the collapse of a compound wall led to the death of seven devotees. He conveyed his condolences and said he refrained from visiting the site to avoid disrupting the flow of devotees, as advised by local leaders. Instead, he reviewed the situation from Amaravati. He stated that ministers visited the incident site, offered condolences to the families of the victims, and assured them of full government support. Chandrababu Naidu also mentioned that he had canceled his other engagements that day to continuously monitor the aftermath of the tragedy.
