IPL 2025: Mumbai’s Batting and Bowling Masterclass Downs Lucknow

As part of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Mumbai Indians secured a remarkable victory against Lucknow Super Giants. The match was held at Wankhede Stadium, where Mumbai defeated Lucknow by a commanding margin of 54 runs.

Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a formidable total of 215 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Riyan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav led the batting with impressive half-centuries, propelling their team to a competitive score.

Chasing a challenging target, Lucknow Super Giants faltered early in their innings. Opener Aiden Markram was dismissed for 9 runs by Jasprit Bumrah, while Nicholas Pooran (27) and Rishabh Pant (4) were removed by Will Jacks in quick succession. Although Mitchell Marsh contributed 34 runs off 24 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes, and Ayush Badoni added 35 runs off 22 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes, the batting side failed to build lasting partnerships under pressure.

David Miller also fell short, managing only 24 runs. The disciplined bowling attack from Mumbai Indians led to regular wickets, preventing Lucknow from gaining momentum. Ultimately, Lucknow Super Giants were bowled out for 161 runs in 20 overs.

Among Mumbai’s bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah delivered a standout performance, taking 4 crucial wickets for just 22 runs. Trent Boult supported effectively with 3 wickets for 20 runs. Will Jacks took 2 wickets, and Corbin Bosch claimed 1 wicket.

With this win, Mumbai Indians further solidified their position on the points table. Notably, this marks their fifth consecutive victory in the tournament.
