Bill Gates’ Super Gift Worth ₹136 Crore to Daughter!

Microsoft co-founder and one of the world’s richest individuals, Bill Gates, has reportedly given an extravagant gift to his daughter, Jennifer Gates. According to reports published by the New York Post and The Journal News, Bill Gates purchased a horse farm valued at 15.82 million US dollars (approximately ₹136 crore in Indian currency) as a gift to Jennifer Gates upon her graduation from Stanford University in 2018.

This luxurious estate is located in North Salem, Westchester, New York. Spanning roughly 124 acres, the horse farm is said to be equipped with world-class facilities for equestrian activities. It was reportedly acquired from Duncan Dayton, a real estate developer and heir to Dayton-Hudson Corporation (currently Target Corporation). The purchase is said to have been completed as an off-market deal through the Wellington Trust, the same entity previously used by the Gates family for property acquisitions in Florida.

Jennifer Gates has shown a deep interest in horse riding since childhood and is determined to succeed as an equestrian. She is currently pursuing higher education at New York University. The North Salem estate is reportedly tailored to her passion, featuring state-of-the-art stables and training facilities.

Previously, Bill Gates also purchased another luxurious equestrian estate in Wellington, Florida, for 38 million US dollars. That area is known to be home to notable personalities such as Michael Bloomberg and Bruce Springsteen.

However, this extravagant gift to his daughter has become a topic of public discussion, particularly in light of statements made by Bill Gates’ former wife, Melinda Gates. She has previously stated on multiple occasions that their three children—Jennifer, Rory, and Phoebe—were raised in a financially disciplined and modest environment. In a 2024 interview with The New York Times, Melinda Gates said that their family lived in what she described as “a very middle-class atmosphere,” where wealth did not play a central role in their upbringing. “We didn’t buy them everything they asked for,” she said, adding that they were given pocket money, taught how to save, and encouraged to avoid excessive spending. Recalling her own experiences at Duke University, Melinda Gates stated, “If I ever had wealth, I had already decided that I would not raise my children that way.”

In this context, although Bill Gates’ generous gift is intended to support Jennifer Gates’ equestrian aspirations, it has sparked opinions suggesting a stark contrast between this act and the values of simplicity and restraint in upbringing previously emphasized by Melinda Gates. The event has opened a broader conversation about the balance between wealth and values in one of the world’s wealthiest families.
