Villagers Lose Sleep Over Leopard Scare in Gudibanda, Sri Sathya Sai District

Residents of Gudibanda mandal headquarters in Sri Sathya Sai district are gripped by fear following the repeated presence of leopards near their village. According to local villagers, multiple leopards have been roaming in groups on a nearby hill, creating a climate of tension and sleepless nights for the inhabitants.
Locals reported that three leopards have established a long-term habitat in the bushes of the hill adjacent to the village. While they remain on the hill during the day, the animals reportedly descend into the surrounding village areas at night in search of food. Their proximity to residential zones and frequent attacks on livestock have deeply alarmed cattle owners in the region. Several animals have reportedly been killed by the leopards in recent times.
Farmers are now hesitant to go to their fields, especially during early mornings and late evenings, due to fears of encountering the predators. They expressed distress over the lack of safety for both their lives and their livestock.
Despite repeatedly lodging complaints with forest department officials, residents of Gudibanda alleged that authorities have not taken the matter seriously. They claimed that officials only implement temporary measures in response to reports but have failed to offer a permanent solution. Villagers have urged senior officials to intervene immediately, implement protective measures in the village, and provide relief from the ongoing leopard threat.
