Couple Celebrates Wedding Anniversary in Pahalgam Amid Tensions

Despite the somber atmosphere following a deadly militant attack that claimed 26 lives at the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, a couple from Maharashtra chose to mark their wedding anniversary at the same location. The couple, Sushant and Preeti, visited Pahalgam undeterred by the recent violence, aiming to convey the message that the area has returned to normalcy.

While many tourists have been apprehensive following the recent militant incident, Sushant and Preeti deliberately selected Pahalgam for their anniversary celebrations. They stated that their primary intention was to inform the nation that the situation in the area is stabilizing and there is no need for fear or anxiety. “Life in Pahalgam is proceeding normally. The local people are warm and welcoming. We came here to share this message with everyone,” they said.

Sushant and Preeti urged citizens from across the country to visit Kashmir and personally experience the region’s breathtaking natural beauty and the hospitality of its residents. They appealed to the public not to be deterred by acts of terrorism and instead to courageously support Kashmir’s tourism industry through their visits.

Although the recent militant incident in Jammu and Kashmir was widely reported, tourists continue to arrive in Pahalgam to enjoy its scenic beauty. Among them was Sanjay, a tourist from Kanpur, who shared his experience. “We departed from Kanpur to Pahalgam on the 22nd. When we learned about the incident (the militant attack) that occurred on the same day, we were deeply shaken and unsure of what to do. However, we have complete faith in our government,” he said.

Sanjay acknowledged the incident as extremely unfortunate but expressed confidence in the government's response. “What happened was very wrong. Still, we believe our government will respond appropriately,” he stated. It was this trust in the authorities that led him to continue with his travel plans.
