Four Die in Drowning Incident in Annamayya District

A tragic incident occurred in Annamayya district when four individuals drowned in a large village pond located in Molakalacheruvu mandal.

According to the details, Mallesh (36), a resident of the mandal headquarters, went to the nearby village pond to wash clothes. He was accompanied by his daughter Lavanya (12), son Nandkishore (10), and their friend Nandini.

While Mallesh was washing clothes, Nandkishore and Nandini entered the water to swim. As the two children began to drown, Lavanya noticed and, crying out loudly, entered the water in an attempt to save her younger brother.

Hearing the cries, Mallesh rushed into the water and made a desperate attempt to rescue the three children. However, due to the excessive depth of the water, he was unable to bring them out. Ultimately, Mallesh also drowned along with the children.

Police, upon receiving the information, arrived at the scene and deployed professional swimmers to recover the bodies. The four bodies were retrieved and sent to the hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

The deaths of a father, his two children, and a neighbouring schoolgirl—all from the same locality—cast a pall of gloom over the village.
