CM Chandrababu Launches New Scheme Fulfilling Poll Promise

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced the launch of a new welfare initiative for the fishing community in Andhra Pradesh, fulfilling a key election promise. The scheme, which increases financial aid during the fishing ban period, was officially rolled out with direct financial transfers to beneficiaries.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed satisfaction over the implementation of this initiative. He stated, “It is a matter of pride that we are implementing a decision that aligns with our election promise to enhance financial support to fishermen during the fishing ban period.”

He revealed that the aid, which was previously ₹10,000, has now been doubled to ₹20,000 per beneficiary. Under the new scheme, ₹20,000 each was credited to the bank accounts of 1,29,178 fishermen, amounting to a total disbursal of ₹258.35 crore.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu shared his personal observations regarding the plight of fishermen during the fishing ban, when their income ceases. He said, “I have personally witnessed the hardships faced by fishermen during the ban period. It was with their struggles in mind that I decided to double this support.”

He emphasized that it is the government's primary duty to stand by hard-working individuals. “Supporting those who work diligently is a core responsibility of the government,” he stated.

On the occasion of the scheme’s launch, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited Budagatlapalem village in the Etcherla constituency of Srikakulam district. He mentioned that he interacted directly with members of the fishing community, inquiring about their challenges and needs.

He assured them that the government would undertake programs aimed at their welfare in every possible way. “The time I spent with these hardworking citizens has further strengthened my resolve to work even harder for the people of the state,” Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu added.
