Sourav Ganguly Urges Complete End to Cricketing Ties with Pakistan

Following the recent militant attack in Pahalgam, tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified. Both nations have responded by imposing retaliatory sanctions. In this context, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a significant announcement, declaring that India will not engage in any future bilateral cricket series with Pakistan. This declaration was made by BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla.

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has now made a key statement regarding cricketing ties with Pakistan. Speaking to leading news agency ANI in Kolkata, Sourav Ganguly stated that India should sever all forms of cricket relations with Pakistan.

“It is 100 percent necessary to do this (cut all cricketing ties with Pakistan). Strict action is needed. It is not a joke that such incidents happen every year. We cannot tolerate terrorism,” Sourav Ganguly said.

For years, India and Pakistan have only faced each other in ICC events such as the T20 World Cup, the 50-over World Cup, the ICC Champions Trophy, and the Asia Cup. The potential implications of Sourav Ganguly’s remarks on these international events remain to be seen.

Due to strained political relations between the two nations, Team India has not toured Pakistan since 2008. The traditional rivals last played a bilateral series in India during the 2012–13 season.

Recently, India did not travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy, hosted by Pakistan. Instead, the Indian team played all its matches in Dubai under a hybrid model.
