Advocate Narra Srinivas Responds to Arrest of IPS Officer Seetharam Anjaneyulu
The arrest of former Andhra Pradesh Intelligence Chief, P. Seetharam Anjaneyulu, by CID officials has sparked a political and legal controversy. The arrest follows allegations that a false case was deliberately filed against Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jethwani and her family, and that they were unlawfully detained.
Advocate Narra Srinivas, representing Kadambari Jethwani, issued a strong response, alleging that the case was fabricated to pressure the actress into withdrawing a legal complaint she had filed in Mumbai against an industrialist named Sajjan Jindal. Srinivas claimed that the case registered at the Ibrahimpatnam Police Station was part of a larger conspiracy orchestrated to manipulate legal proceedings.
According to Srinivas, even before the First Information Report (FIR) was formally registered, a group of officials allegedly travelled to Mumbai and arrested Kadambari Jethwani. He stated that the victims were illegally detained for more than 50 days, during which time their properties were attached, their bank accounts frozen, and their passports seized. Additionally, a lookout notice was issued against Jethwani's brother, who resides abroad.
Srinivas further alleged that the then Additional Superintendent of Police, Vishal Gunni, had revealed during an internal inquiry that he acted under orders from Seetharam Anjaneyulu. He stated that Gunni was pressured to execute the plan in order to secure the cancellation of his transfer from Visakhapatnam. Discussions related to the conspiracy allegedly took place within the Chief Minister's Camp Office, according to Gunni's purported disclosures.
The advocate claimed that IPS officers misused their authority and demanded a comprehensive investigation to expose those behind the plot. He called for the Supreme Court to cancel the anticipatory bail granted by the High Court to other IPS officers accused in the case. Srinivas expressed hope that the arrest of Seetharam Anjaneyulu would mark a step toward justice for the victims and punishment for the culprits.
