BRS Ex-MLA Loses Indian Citizenship,Accepts High Court Verdict, Pays ₹30 Lakh Fine
Former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Chennamaneni Ramesh faced a major setback in the Telangana High Court. The court declared that Chennamaneni Ramesh is not an Indian citizen, but a German national. This judgment was delivered in response to a petition filed by Government Whip Aadi Srinivas, challenging the citizenship status of Chennamaneni Ramesh.
The Telangana High Court conducted a detailed inquiry into the matter and issued a sensational verdict. It expressed strong displeasure, stating that for 15 years, Chennamaneni Ramesh had misled government authorities and the judiciary using false documents. The court upheld the decision of the Central Government to cancel his Indian citizenship, affirming the validity and legal basis of the revocation.
Additionally, the court imposed a penalty of ₹30 lakh on Chennamaneni Ramesh. Of this amount, ₹25 lakh was directed to be paid to the petitioner Aadi Srinivas, and ₹5 lakh to the High Court Legal Services Committee. Without contesting the verdict or filing an appeal, Chennamaneni Ramesh accepted the court's decision and paid the full amount of the fine.
