UP Girl Fakes Innocence to Outsmart Scammer—Social Media Applauds

A young woman from Uttar Pradesh has demonstrated the importance of staying vigilant in financial matters, sharing her recent encounter with an online scammer through a video that has since gone viral on social media. In the video, she narrates and displays how a fraudster attempted to deceive her, and how she cleverly thwarted the attempt.
According to the details, the scammer initiated contact by calling the young woman and introducing himself as a friend of her father. In response, she politely greeted him by saying, “Namaste Uncle.”
Claiming he owed her father ₹12,000, the scammer requested to transfer the amount to her via online payment. Realizing it was a scam, the young woman pretended to be unaware and played along innocently. The fraudster then messaged her saying he had sent ₹10,000, and when she confirmed receiving it, he claimed to be sending the remaining ₹2,000—however, he falsely messaged that he had sent ₹20,000 instead.
In the video, the woman can be seen saying innocently, “Oh Uncle, you sent ₹20,000 instead of ₹2,000.” To this, the scammer pretended to regret the mistake and asked her to keep ₹2,000 and return the remaining ₹18,000 via Paytm. The young woman agreed but edited his original message to make it appear as though she had already transferred the ₹18,000.
Upon reviewing the message, the scammer realized she was not as naïve as he thought and that he had been outwitted. With nothing more to say, he ended the call, offering his blessings as he hung up. The young woman recorded the entire interaction using another phone and uploaded the video on social media, cautioning others to stay alert to such fraudulent schemes.
