Dhoni Records 200 Dismissals as Wicketkeeper, Sets New IPL Benchmark

In the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni delivered a stellar performance, playing a crucial role in his team’s victory. Dhoni impressed both behind the stumps and with the bat, showcasing his enduring prowess.
Demonstrating his signature style in wicketkeeping, MS Dhoni made a significant impact. In batting, he scored 26 runs off just 11 balls, which earned him the Player of the Match (POTM) award. With this feat, he became the oldest player in IPL history to receive the award, at the age of 43 years and 281 days. The previous record was held by spinner Pravin Tambe, who was 43 years and 60 days old when he earned the accolade.
A String of Records for Mahendra Singh Dhoni
The match added several notable records to Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s name. He became the first wicketkeeper in IPL history to be involved in 200 dismissals, including stumpings, run-outs, and catches. In addition, Dhoni set another milestone by becoming the batter with the most innings (132) in which he has hit sixes since the inception of the league.
Dhoni also emerged as the second player in IPL history to win the Player of the Match award the most number of times. So far, he has secured this honour 18 times. Rohit Sharma leads the list with 19 POTM awards.
