Minor Stampede at Telangana’s Saleswaram Temple Injures Devotees

Several devotees sustained injuries during a minor stampede at the Saleswaram Jatara, an event popularly known as the “Telangana Amarnath Yatra.” The incident occurred yesterday, which marked the final day of the annual religious fair held at the Saleswaram Lingamayya temple in the Nallamala forest region of Nagarkurnool district.

Due to the conclusion of the Jatara coinciding with the weekend, a large number of devotees gathered at the site, resulting in heavy congestion. The stampede took place on a narrow path near the shoe-drop zone located in a gorge area. Devotees pushing against each other in the confined space led to the commotion.

During the incident, some devotees were injured. A ten-year-old child experienced breathing difficulties and showed signs of distress. In another case, a devotee suffered a head injury after being struck by a falling rock from above.
