Ramlath Praises Ex-Husband Prabhu Deva

More than a decade after her divorce from renowned choreographer, actor, and director Prabhu Deva, his former wife Ramlath has publicly expressed her appreciation for him. In a recent interview with a Tamil YouTube channel, Ramlath commended Prabhu Deva’s love and sense of responsibility toward their children, sharing several insights into their current relationship and his role in their parenting.
Ramlath and Prabhu Deva separated in 2011 after approximately 16 years of marriage. Speaking about their post-divorce rapport, Ramlath stated, “We continue to maintain a cordial relationship for the sake of our children. They are his life. He shares a deep bond with both our sons. Regardless of the situation, father and sons are always in touch with each other.”
She further explained that both she and Prabhu Deva make joint decisions regarding their children’s welfare, demonstrating their commitment as parents.
Ramlath’s interview followed a recent event in Chennai, where their son Rishi performed a dance on stage alongside Prabhu Deva. She expressed immense pride in her son's talent, attributing it to the influence of his father. “There’s no need to spell it out—he shares his father’s blood, and that’s where the magic comes from,” she said.
Addressing the difficulties that arose during their separation—especially due to Prabhu Deva’s then-relationship with actress Nayanthara—Ramlath acknowledged the past but affirmed that she had moved on. She clarified that Prabhu Deva had always treated her with respect after the divorce and had never spoken ill of her. “If he had ever spoken badly about me, I would have been angry. But he never did, and so I too have never spoken poorly of him,” she noted.
“This is life, and one must accept it,” Ramlath remarked, adding that she has come to terms with the reality and moved forward. Even though Prabhu Deva has since remarried and become the father of a daughter, Ramlath emphasized that he continues to be a responsible and caring father to his children from the first marriage.
