In a thrilling encounter against Punjab Kings as part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) last night, Hyderabad cricketer Abhishek Sharma etched his name into the record books by scoring a stunning century. Abhishek Sharma struck 141 runs off just 55 balls, hitting 14 boundaries and 10 sixes, setting a new benchmark for the highest individual score by an Indian player in the history of the IPL.

Punjab Kings, having opted to bat first, posted a formidable total of 245 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad successfully chased the daunting target of 246 runs, losing only two wickets and with nine balls to spare. This feat now stands as the second-highest successful run chase in IPL history.

Abhishek Sharma's performance in the match led to several other notable records. He became the third-fastest Indian to score a century in the IPL. Additionally, he set a new record for the longest six of the season, sending a delivery from Punjab all-rounder Marco Jansen a staggering 106 metres during the tenth over.
