Venkaiah Naidu Makes Intriguing Remarks on Jamili Elections

Former Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu has stated that the belief that Jamili elections would create difficulties for regional parties is merely a misconception. He made these remarks while speaking at an intellectuals' conference held in Tirupati on the topic of "One Nation - One Election".

Venkaiah Naidu said that implementing Jamili elections would significantly reduce election-related expenses. He asserted that opposition to these elections by certain political parties is rooted purely in political motives. According to him, some parties are unable to cope with the loss of power, and that is influencing their stance.

He further stated that party defection is detrimental to democracy. He emphasized that it is inappropriate for elected representatives to switch parties after winning under one party's symbol. He argued that such actions undermine democratic principles.
