Gorantla Madhav Sent to 14-Day Remand, Shifted to Nellore Jail

Former Member of Parliament and YSR Congress Party leader Gorantla Madhav was produced by the police before the Guntur Mobile Court today. The court ordered 14 days of judicial remand for Gorantla Madhav, extending until the 24th of this month. Following the court's decision, the police transferred him to Nellore Jail.

Gorantla Madhav was arrested on charges of obstructing police duties. Alongside him, the court also remanded five other accused individuals. According to police reports, the incident occurred when officers detained Chebrolu Kiran Kumar, who allegedly made objectionable remarks against Y. S. Bharathi. As the police were transporting Kiran Kumar to the Superintendent of Police’s office, Gorantla Madhav allegedly attempted to intervene.

The police stated that at Chuttugunta Junction in Guntur, Gorantla Madhav blocked the road with his vehicle and attempted to attack Kiran Kumar. Authorities claimed that this action disrupted police operations. Following a medical examination at the Guntur Government Hospital, the police presented him before the special Mobile Court judge.

Gorantla Madhav’s legal counsel, Ponnavolu Sudhakar, appealed to the court to reject the remand request, but the court dismissed the plea. Reports also indicated that Gorantla Madhav behaved in an unruly manner within the court premises. When being brought to court, he reportedly refused to appear before the media and expressed anger, questioning, “Would you bring a former MP before the media?”
