Social Media Slams CSK After Dhoni Bats at No. 9, Scores 1 Run

Despite a change in captaincy, Chennai Super Kings’ performance remained dismal. Playing under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Chennai players delivered a disappointing batting display in today’s match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium against Kolkata Knight Riders. Losing the toss, Chennai batted first and struggled to post a total of just 103 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 31 was the only noteworthy contribution that helped Chennai reach even this modest score.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who came in to bat at the ninth position, managed to score only one run before being trapped LBW by Sunil Narine. In the middle order, Vijay Shankar offered some resistance with 29 runs. However, openers Rachin Ravindra (4) and Devon Conway (12) were dismissed early. Coming in at one-down, Rahul Tripathi scored 16 runs.
Ravichandran Ashwin (1), Ravindra Jadeja (0), and Deepak Hooda (0) performed poorly with the bat. Among Kolkata’s bowlers, Sunil Narine took 3 wickets, Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana took 2 each, while Moeen Ali and Vaibhav Arora claimed 1 wicket apiece.
Although Chennai had played reasonably under regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, their performance under Mahendra Singh Dhoni today was heavily criticized. None of the batters appeared committed to building their innings. Dhoni’s decision to bat at number nine and his quick dismissal sparked criticism across social media platforms.
