Amit Shah Confirms BJP-AIADMK Tie-Up for Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections

The alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Tamil Nadu has been officially confirmed. Union Minister Amit Shah formally announced the coalition, stating that the two parties will contest together in the upcoming state assembly elections scheduled for next year.

Amit Shah emphasized that AIADMK will contest the elections under the leadership of Edappadi K. Palaniswami. He addressed a press conference in Chennai alongside AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami and BJP Tamil Nadu state president K. Annamalai.

Recalling the 1998 alliance under former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, Amit Shah noted the significant victory achieved by the BJP-AIADMK coalition in that year’s Lok Sabha elections. He clarified that AIADMK had not set any conditions or made demands regarding the alliance and asserted that the BJP would not interfere in AIADMK’s internal matters.

Amit Shah expressed confidence that the partnership would be mutually beneficial for both parties. He also mentioned that decisions regarding seat allocations would be made soon.

Criticizing the ruling government in Tamil Nadu, Amit Shah alleged, “The Stalin government has failed in all sectors and is attempting to divert public attention by raising issues like Sanatana Dharma and the three-language policy.”
