Chandrababu Warns Against Character Attacks on Women, Promises Strict Action

During his visit to Eluru district, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu issued a stern warning against character assassination of women on social media, declaring, “It will be their last day if they do so.” He emphasized that he would act as a fierce enforcer against those who commit wrongdoing and stated that under the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) rule, people lacked the freedom to move around without fear. Now, he said, the responsibility of punishing wrongdoers lies with the current government.

These remarks gained prominence following immediate action taken by the coalition government against ITDP worker Chebrolu Kiran, who had made inappropriate comments about Y. S. Bharathi.

N. Chandrababu Naidu recalled that he was once subjected to vulgar abuse in the Assembly. He said he had then declared he would only re-enter the Assembly once it was transformed into a dignified House, and now, having done so as Chief Minister, he reiterated that disrespectful speech about the character of girls would not be tolerated.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also announced that a Backward Classes (BC) Protection Act would soon be introduced, inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule. He stated that justice had been delivered to backward communities only after the Telugu Desam Party with alliance came to power.

He detailed that 33 percent reservations have been provided for BCs in employment and 34 percent in local bodies. He revealed that the construction of BC Bhavans has been initiated across districts and affirmed that the welfare of BC communities is the top priority of the coalition government. A civil services coaching center for BC students is also being established in the capital city of Amaravati.

Highlighting the government's welfare initiatives, Chandrababu Naidu claimed that pensions were being provided in a manner unmatched elsewhere in the country. He stated that the government aims to transform one lakh women into entrepreneurs this year. He also announced that the ‘Thalliki Vandhanam’ scheme will soon be launched for all mothers.

Emphasizing support for the agricultural community, he said the government would encourage profitable commercial crops and begin disbursing ₹20,000 to farmers in installments from May. He also said legal hurdles are being cleared to complete the Chintalapudi project soon.

N. Chandrababu Naidu further said that a new action plan under “P-4” has been launched and stressed that wealth should not be confined to a select few. “It is our belief that ten wealthy individuals must support twenty poor families,” he stated. In Agiripalli, he said 206 poor families have been identified and that the government would provide land and build houses for all eligible individuals before seeking their votes again. He criticized the previous administration for allotting house sites in unsuitable areas.
