Venkaiah Naidu's Suggestion to Telangana Government

Former Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu, expressed concern over reports suggesting that the Telangana government is considering implementing Sanskrit as the second language in junior colleges. He stated that he was saddened by these reports and urged the government to reconsider the decision if it was based solely on marks.

Sharing his views through social media, Venkaiah Naidu said, “It is not appropriate to distance students from our mother tongue. There is nothing wrong with teaching Sanskrit. At the same time, our mother tongue serves as a vital medium to access and embrace our cultural heritage. That is why the National Education Policy 2020 also emphasizes the importance of mother tongues.”

Venkaiah Naidu further added, “I hope the Telangana government acts in the spirit of this policy and takes steps to bring students closer to their mother tongue.”
