Shardul Thakur Registers Worst Record in IPL

In a high-voltage Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens, pacer Shardul Thakur of Lucknow Super Giants came under scrutiny for an over that drew sharp reactions across social media platforms.

During the 13th over of Kolkata’s innings, Shardul Thakur bowled five consecutive wide deliveries, marking a new low in his IPL career. This over led to Shardul Thakur becoming only the second bowler in IPL history to deliver five wides in a single over. His performance quickly became a talking point among fans and analysts alike.

Despite the erratic over, Thakur managed to secure a wicket off the final delivery. Ajinkya Rahane, who was batting on 61 runs from 35 balls, was caught by Nicholas Pooran, bringing his innings to an end.

Previously, Mohammed Siraj also delivered five wides in a single over during the 2023 IPL season while playing for Bengaluru. However, those wides were not bowled consecutively and occurred in a match held in Mumbai.
