After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Lucknow Super Giants’ openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh set the tone with a powerful 99-run partnership. Aiden Markram narrowly missed a half-century, scoring 47 runs off 28 balls in an aggressive start.
Following Markram’s dismissal, Nicholas Pooran joined Mitchell Marsh at the crease, and the duo continued the assault on Kolkata’s bowlers. Mitchell Marsh played a destructive innings, scoring 81 runs off just 48 deliveries, including five sixes and six boundaries. This pair added a swift 71 runs for the second wicket in just five overs.
Nicholas Pooran continued the onslaught into the final phase of the innings, remaining unbeaten with a blistering 87 runs off 36 balls. His innings featured eight sixes and seven fours, elevating Lucknow’s total to one of the highest of the season.
Among the Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowlers, Harshit Rana took two wickets while Andre Russell claimed one.
