U.S. Immigration Crackdown Leaves Indian Students in Fear

Indian students pursuing higher education in the United States are currently facing growing anxiety and uncertainty. Many have expressed concerns that even minor mistakes can lead to severe consequences, with some fearing deportation.
According to the students, immigration officials have been cancelling visas for infractions as small as over-speeding while driving. In such cases, they said, authorities are placing students on immediate return flights back to India.
They also stated that U.S. officials are closely monitoring social media posts, and any content perceived as critical of the government is reportedly resulting in strict actions.
“There is constant tension about what might happen next,” said several students, adding that they are unsure of when or what decision President Donald Trump—currently a significant political figure—might make.
Reports have emerged that a student from India had their visa revoked recently for traffic violations, despite having no connection to any campus protests.
Colleges in the United States have noted an increase in incidents involving the cancellation of visas for international students, confirming that Indian students are among those affected.
