Domestic Gas Becomes Costlier as New Prices Take Effect

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced on Monday that gas distribution companies have increased the price of domestic cooking gas cylinders by ₹50. He stated that the price hike applies not only to general category consumers but also to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The new prices will come into effect starting tomorrow.
As a result of this revision, the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder for regular consumers will increase from ₹803 to ₹853. Similarly, the cost of an Ujjwala cylinder will rise from ₹503 to ₹553.
Additionally, the government has increased the excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹2 per litre. However, Hardeep Singh Puri clarified that oil companies will bear the burden of this duty hike.
