Supreme Court Grants Major Relief to Mithun Reddy

YSRCP Member of Parliament Mithun Reddy has received significant relief from the Supreme Court in connection with the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam. The bench directed the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) not to arrest Mithun Reddy until further orders are issued.

The Andhra Pradesh CID had registered a case alleging irregularities in liquor sales during the tenure of the YSRCP government. Several individuals have been named as accused in the case. However, Mithun Reddy has not yet been formally listed as an accused.

Amid concerns over a possible arrest, Mithun Reddy had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking anticipatory bail. The High Court, however, dismissed his petition, stating that anticipatory bail could not be granted as his name was not mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR).

Following this, Mithun Reddy approached the Supreme Court. Hearing the matter today, the Supreme Court directed the CID not to take any action against him until further orders are issued.
