Leopard Caught on SV University Campus, Tirupati
A leopard that had been roaming the vicinity of Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) in Tirupati for some time was finally captured. The animal was caught in a trap cage set up by the Forest Department within the SVU campus. Forest officials later relocated the leopard to the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park (SV Zoo Park).
The Forest Department had previously placed several trap cages in multiple locations in response to the leopard’s repeated presence. However, the animal had managed to evade capture until now. Recently, the leopard attacked a fawn behind the university’s main library, prompting heightened safety measures.
As a precaution, warning boards were installed around the university, advising people not to move around the campus before 7 a.m. and after 6 p.m. It was during this period of heightened vigilance that the leopard was finally caught in one of the trap cages.
