Pastor Praveen Kumar’s Death: East Godavari SP Discloses Investigation Findings
East Godavari District Superintendent of Police Narasinha Kishore has disclosed details regarding the death of Pastor Pagadala Praveen Kumar. The pastor, a resident of SBH Colony near Tirumalagiri in Hyderabad, was found dead by local residents on the roadside near Konthamuru on the outskirts of Rajamahendravaram on the morning of the previous day. Several pastors staged a protest, alleging that Praveen Kumar had not died in a road accident, but had been murdered.
Following public concern, the government ordered an official inquiry into the matter. Superintendent of Police Narasinha Kishore, addressing the media, stated that local residents had informed the police about the presence of a body lying on the roadside. A mobile phone was recovered near the deceased. Investigation of the phone revealed that the last call had been made to Ram Mohan of Rajamahendravaram. Upon being contacted, Ram Mohan arrived at the scene, viewed the body, and identified it as that of Pagadala Praveen Kumar.
Upon confirming that Praveen Kumar was a resident of Hyderabad, the police notified his family members. The Superintendent further stated that Praveen Kumar’s brother-in-law arrived and filed a complaint alleging suspicious circumstances, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR). Forensic teams, including a dog squad and a clues team, were deployed to the site to collect evidence. In accordance with government instructions, an inquiry by an Executive Magistrate has also been initiated.
A team of medical professionals conducted the post-mortem examination, which was recorded on video in its entirety, according to the Superintendent. He further reported that Praveen Kumar was last seen traveling on a two-wheeler near the Kovvur Toll Gate. Based on CCTV footage, it was recorded at 11:43 PM on Monday night.
Superintendent Narasinha Kishore stated that a comprehensive investigation is underway based on the available evidence. A special investigation team has been constituted to pursue the case further. He appealed to the public to come forward with any information relevant to the incident. The SP also noted that, following the post-mortem, the body was transported to Hyderabad after officials persuaded protestors to allow its movement.
