"My Husband’s Killers Should Also Be Sentenced to Death": Bhargavi
In January, a case of honor killing was reported in Suryapet district, Telangana. A young man named Vaddakonda Krishna, also known as Banti, was brutally murdered by his wife’s family members.

Banti, a resident of Pillalamarri village, belonged to the Mala community, while his close friend Naveen was from a BC caste. Banti fell in love with Naveen’s sister, Bhargavi, and the two got married. However, Naveen’s family members allegedly planned and executed Banti’s murder. His body was later found near the Musi River close to Pillalamarri village. Following the incident, the police arrested the accused in the case.

Bhargavi recently reacted to the sentencing in another prominent honor killing case—the murder of Pranay. In that case, one of the accused received the death penalty, while others were sentenced to life imprisonment. Referring to this, Bhargavi demanded similar punishments for her husband's killers.

She urged the government to set up a fast-track court for her case, ensuring a swift trial and strict punishment for the accused. Bhargavi specifically stated that her husband’s killers should receive the death penalty. She emphasized that such severe sentences should serve as a lesson to those who commit caste-based honor killings.

Expressing her grief, Bhargavi said she hopes Banti’s murder will be the last such incident and that no other woman should have to suffer as she has. Overcome with emotion, she reiterated her plea for justice.
