Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Slams Critics of Caste Census
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy attended the Padmashali Mahasabha at Nampally Exhibition Grounds as the chief guest. In his speech, he emphasized that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's vision is to ensure justice for backward classes through caste census. He stated that the Telangana government has conducted the caste survey systematically across the state.
Revanth Reddy criticized those opposing the caste census, alleging that only those dissatisfied with the survey are spreading misinformation against it. "If there is any mistake in the caste census, let them prove it. But no one is coming forward," he said. He accused certain groups of running false propaganda to suppress the rights of weaker sections.
The Chief Minister also spoke about Konda Laxman Bapuji’s crucial role in the Telangana movement, highlighting his sacrifices for the cause. He recalled that Bapuji had even given his own house to shelter the needy. However, Revanth Reddy expressed disappointment that such a great leader has been neglected after the formation of Telangana.
Indirectly targeting former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), Revanth Reddy pointed out that when Konda Laxman Bapuji passed away, the then-Chief Minister did not attend his funeral. He announced that the Asifabad Medical College would be named after Konda Laxman Bapuji as a tribute.
Revanth Reddy further stated that his government is committed to supporting not just farmers but also weavers. He announced that women in self-help groups would receive two sarees each and that the government had placed orders worth ₹1.30 crore for sarees to support the weaving community.
